Slovenian Smart Factory goes to the top 10 % most energy-efficient cement factories in Europe due to using Solvera Lynx’s innovative solution based on LoRaWAN technology.

Salonit Anhovo is the biggest cement production factory in Slovenia. Founded more than 90 years ago, it has been an innovation driver for the region ever since.

It was a massive challenge for the company to adapt their infrastructure to the new environmental regulations, guaranteeing and maintaining the highest level of safety and efficiency for their operations.

In the past ten years, the factory invested massively in its production line. It has a strong environmental regulation compliance strategy and is dedicated to optimizing and reducing energy consumption.

In order to comply with European energy regulation and meet the energy consumption reduction target, Salonit Anhovo decided to carry out an energy management project.

The project required a custom-made solution to optimize energy-intensive production processes: Salonit Anhovo uses over 90 GWh of electrical energy annually, more than 8 GWh of gas, and over 400,000 m3 technological water.

The inhospitable industrial environment with high moisture rate, extreme temperature conditions, and far-spread production areas, spanned over an area of more than 6 km2 made the project even more challenging.


Solvera Lynx offered a modern and innovative solution for smart energy management based on wireless LoRaWAN technology. Our approach was truly a game changer in the industry. It made deploying of challenging, previously cost-prohibitive energy management projects possible due to focusing on energy saving instead of investing in wired communication network.

Long range and unique penetration capabilities, flexibility, easy operation & maintenance, safe & reliable data transfer made LoRaWAN technology an obvious choice.

“Using LoraWAN devices from Solvera Lynx allowed us to focus on the energy-saving potential of the project instead of the cabling,” confirms Magda Gabrijelcic.

Transmission of the data was done by our ComBox.L® communication equipment, which has long battery lifetime and suitability for the harsh industrial environment. In total we installed 36 ComBox certified devices, 11 of which are for gas metering, 10 are for water metering, 5 for compressed air, and 10 are used for electricity meters. The data was gathered and analyzed by advanced software platform GemaLogic®.

  • Protection from unexpected energy consumption based on pre-defined key performance indicators and alarm system implementation that send notifications when consumption increases.
